FC Twente - FC Bruges
A group of about 20 to 25 Bruges lads
travelled down to Holland, with some memorable riots
(FC Twente - FC Bruges 1989, Uefa Cup) still in their heads.
When the Bruges group got outside of their coach, they immediately stood eye to eye with the home hooligans. The Belgian casuals immediately charged towards their Dutch opponants who where with about 40. The fight went on and off for about 10 minutes, fights in which members of both groups used belts while the Twente group is also stated to have used teargas.
After the game, the home lads had with an impressive mob waiting but the Dutch riot police had control over the situation and escorted the Bruges group back to their bus.
Result of an hectic afternoon: some 9 persons wounded, including one Twente hool who was shot in his leg by a police officer.
